Five Wellness Tips
Here are 5 easy to follow, effective tips for general
wellness.
-
Sit up straight.
Develop the habit of good posture. It makes a world of difference in the way your back feels;
and you’ll even look taller.
-
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
A balanced diet is essential to your overall health. Make sure your plate contains
lots of different foods (look at the colors, variety is important). Try to lose a few pounds; carrying extra weight puts additional
strain on the back and other joints.
- Turn off the TV.
Get up and move.
Go for a walk. Add at least 20 minutes of moderate physical exercise to your regular routine. And when you have to sit for
long periods of time, get up and stretch frequently.
- Put that down.
Don't lift things that are too heavy for you. (Always
ask for help if it’s available). Try to avoid carrying excess weight in book bags or purses; and switch shoulders to
minimize the load.
- Go
to sleep.
A good night’s sleep is essential for the body’s energy and repair mechanisms. Avoid
sleeping on your stomach, which can strain the muscles and lock the joints in your neck and lower back. Try to get in the
habit of sleeping on your side or back.
