About Chiropractic
What is it? Chiropractic is a
health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, and the effects of these disorders
on general health. Chiropractors use natural methods to influence the structure and function of the human body.
Why chiropractic? Chiropractors do not utilize prescription drugs or surgery, which sometimes carry
harmful side effects. Your chiropractor has studied extensively to fully understand all body systems. The chiropractic training
program is comparable to the program of study for medical doctors. In many cases chiropractic care may be the primary method
of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving
the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Is it safe? Chiropractic
treatments are very safe; one of the safest forms of care available. Chiropractic manipulation rarely causes discomfort. However,
patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually
resolves within 12 to 48 hours. What problems can it address? According to the American
Chiropractic Association, more than 30 million people visited doctors of chiropractic last year for a variety of conditions.
Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints such as back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints
of the arms or legs, and headaches. Chiropractic can also be used to treat allergies, fibromyalgia, numbness, scoliosis, as
well as many other health issues.
